The fuji s5000 digital camera is the latest in Fuji’s line of FinePix digital cameras sharing a similar style, with a prominent lens on the left side of the body, balanced by a larger handgrip on the right. The fuji s5000 digital camera is a digital SLR, in that both the rear-panel LCD and eyelevel viewfinder are both electronic displays, showing a “live” view through the lens. The lens on the fuji s5000 digital camera is a full 10x optical zoom, with a relatively fast maximum aperture range of f/2.8-3.1. This is a longer zoom than Fuji has previously offered, placing the S5000 squarely in the midst of what has become a popular category, the long-zoom digital camera.
Comparing the fuji s5000 digital camera with the Sony Cybershot DSC-H9
Where the fuji s5000 digital camera differs from much of its competition though, is in its flexible continuous-shooting modes, which sport a very fast 5 frame/second capture rate, and a very handy “Last 5″ capture mode, which records five shots spanning the last second of time before you released the shutter button. The fuji s5000 digital camera carries the other features we’ve come to expect from Fuji, foremost of which is very appealing, natural color, particularly under outdoor shooting conditions. On the other hand, Sony Cybershot DSC-H9 also offers high definition component video output, via a proprietary cable. The Sony Cybershot DSC-H9 is the only Cyber-shot model in this year’s lineup to feature Sony’s Night Shot technology. Also, the Sony Cybershot DSC-H9 marks one of the first applications of Sony’s Bionz image processor — first seen in the company’s Alpha digital SLRs — in their compact camera models. Sony says the Bionz processor will offer improved image quality, faster response times, and better battery life in its compact cameras. Sony’s system is linked not only to the camera’s autoexposure and autofocus systems as in most similar systems, but also to white balance and flash metering as well, which should help the camera ensure proper flash exposure and pleasing flesh tones. The Sony Cybershot DSC-H9 includes Sony’s new face detection technology, capable of detecting up to eight faces simultaneously. Click here to get more of Sony Cybershot DSC-H9.

Here is a summary of fuji s5000 digital camera review from a satisfied customer:
Don’t wait, just buy this AWESOME digicam !!!
My dear husband, (a pro photographer) clued me into this camera before it was even shipped from Fuji factory. It compares to the top of the line Nikon Coolpix and Olympus high end digicams costing $800-1,000. But it outshoots all its competitors even though the others cost a lot more $$. I have been shooting this camera for only 3 days now (it was just released for sale last week) and I love it. My husband loves it and is thinking of buying one for himself even though he owns 3 digital SLR cameras and numerous 35mm Nikons. The photos from the S5000 look fantastic even at the 1mb and 3mb sizes. The lens is really sharp and the 10X zoom allows one to compose just about any photo one can envision. The camera fits nicely in the hand, buttons are intuitive and easy to reach, and one can shoot pics one-handed. It is a much smaller camera than it appears from photos, it is shorter than my cricket lighter!
Though quite compact, the fuji s5000 digital camera definitely won’t fit into a shirt pocket, but it ought to do just fine in a large coat pocket, purse, or backpack. The included neck/shoulder strap makes it easier to carry as well. The fuji s5000 digital camera body appears to be almost entirely composed of structural plastic, but the camera nevertheless has a very solid “feel” to it, with a rubbery outer coating on the hand grip portion for a secure hold. The fuji s5000 digital camera features a 3.1-megapixel Super CCD HR, which uses an interwoven honeycomb pixel pattern to produce high-quality, interpolated images as large as 2,816 x 2,120 pixels. The fuji s5000 digital camera’s 10x Fujinon 5.7-57mm retractable lens has a removable, plastic lens cap that attaches to the camera body and protects the lens surface. The same threads that hold the lens cap in place also accept an accessory lens adapter (included with the camera, a very nice touch), allowing a variety of front-element add-on lenses and filters to be used with the camera. The fuji s5000 digital camera maximum aperture ranges from f/2.8 to f/3.1, depending on the zoom setting, the f/3.1 setting at maximum telephoto being “faster” than that of most long-zoom digicams.
The fuji s5000 digital camera has the following features and specifications:
- 3.1-megapixel Super CCD HR

- 10x Fujinon 37-370mm equivalent zoom lens

In addition, fuji s5000 digital camera macro focusing mode gets as close as 3.9 inches (10cm), for roughly average macro performance. Auto and manual focus options are available, as well as a Continuous AF mode suitable for more active subjects. You can set the AF area to Center or Multi positions (Multi basing focus on a broad area in the center of the frame), or manually select the AF point using the multicontroller.
