This is a fantastic camera. It is easy to use, and the pics are beautiful. I researched several different cameras and just sort of happened upon this one. Am I glad that I “risked” it! Since this is a new camera, there weren’t many reviews. I highly recommend checking out dcresource.com['s] review; it was what ultimately swayed me. I compared pics from the H5 to Canon’s EOS REBEL XT DSLR with Lens kit, and honestly couldn’t see much difference. Yes, the Rebel has less noise at higher ISO settings, but since I am mainly a hobbyist, I’d say it won’t be a problem.
The good news about Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 new long zooms is that they include image stabilization. While shooting hand-held at 380mm or more requires stabilization, the benefits of image stabilization don’t stop there. Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 significantly enhances available light shooting, making hand-held shutter speeds of about 1/15 second feasible, and consequently helps macro shooting where added depth of field can make the image. Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 has a long track record with image stabilization in its camcorders, but we are starting to see its Super SteadyShot image stabilization system employed in its still cameras. A button to the left of the Sony Cybershot DSC-H5′s Power button toggles it on and off, simple as that. And a menu option determines whether it’s active during framing, or just when the Shutter button is pressed. Also tossed into the Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 bundle are some high ISO equivalents. The Sony Cybershot DSC-H5 can shoot as high as ISO 1,000, obviating the need for flash and its inherent red-eye.
